WDM

A fiber which is used by more than one client (section names) / stacked connection in one section name.

Protection

A server type that indicates that two clients are each protection path.

Ringprotection

A server type that indicates that more than one client and/or server are each protection path.

Accessnet

The fiber network used to connect customers.

Accesspoint

A point in the network where the network can be connected other than buildings.

Autocad

A software product to maintain cad drawings.

Building

An object used to contain frames.

Cable work

A collection of network elements or activities which will lead to a network change or extension.

Client

The same as a section but with an extra role, in which it is using a server.

Connection

A serie of fibers connected by splices.

Connection

A series of connections joined together by a patch.

Corenet

The network used as a backbone to connect access-networks.

Dgn

Extension of a MicroStation-file.

Duct

A pipe with a defined diameter, used to conduct cables.

Duct route

A unique spatial relation between two points.

Extension of a AutoCad-file.

Enclosure

A unit which is used to splice (connect) fibers.

Fiber

A single conductor in a cable

Frame

A collection of units used to terminate fibers, splicing and patching.

Frame

A unit to contain patch-panels and splicing-shelves

Gbkn

A very detailed map only used in the Netherlands.

Klic

A Dutch institution, responsible for communication in case of activities to underground infrastructure.

Label

A real physical label used to identify cables, ducts etc. with a unique name.

Logical connection

The uninterrupted connection between two patchable points.

MapInfo

A software product to maintain gis-data.

Microstation

A software product to maintain cad-drawings.

Otdr

Optical Time Domain Reflectometry.

Patch

A connection between two path positions on one or two patch panels on the same location.

Patch panel

A collection of patch positions.

Pigtail

The connection fiber between a cable and a patch position. The pigtail is spliced to a fiber and ends in a connector (patch position).

Project number

The identification of a cable work or project.

Rass splice

A splice in a frame.

Ring

A bid rounded network in which connections can be made.

Route

A route (trench) between two place (e.g. Amsterdam and Paris).

Section

A part of a complete connection. Always starting on a patch-position and ending at a patch position.

Section name

A section name used to identify the usage of one or more fibers.

Server

The same as a section but with an extra role, in which it is using a server.

Span

A logical view on a physical cable starting and ending on a place where the connection van be manipulated.

Splice

The physical connection between two fibers.

Splice cassette

The cassette in which the splices are stored.

Splice scheme

An overview of underground splicing info of an enclosure.

Splice shelf

A collection of cassettes in which fibers can be connected to each other or connected to pigtail.

Steered drilling

A drilling which can be directed underground.

Tab

Extension of a MapInfo-file.
