A cable pack will be generated when 2 parties signed an agreement with reference to the delivery of 1 or more connections. The receiving party can, with help of the cable pack, import the delivered connections into Cocon. Cable packs can be exported in two ways. This tool is based on current connections, not future connections.
Export cable pack
1) creating cable pack by using maintain customer contract screen.
By using the screen customer contracts, a zip file can be created from the exported cable pack. Often this option is chosen when multiple routes needs to be exported at the same time.
Before a cable pack can be imported, the location translation table needs to be adapted.
Location translating
For this tool a new 'location translation table' is created.
The same location will have a different names in the environment of the receiving party and delivering party. This will also counts for frames and termination units. First you need to make a translation for buildings, termination units etc so this can be take over during the import. This takes place in the screen maintain enclosure translation.
2) Creating cable pack by using 'report on cable usage' screen.
From the screen report on cable usage & the maintain terminated fibers screen it is possible to select 1 or more fibers with the same section name. Click after the selection on the right mouse button. Select " create cable pack ". After the confirmation the cable pack can be restored in different formats. With this tool it is not necessary to change the location translation table.
Import cable pack ( 'file > import external cable )
Import cable pack - Zip file
Before importing, the project number should be equal to the contract number of the delivering party.
During the import process of a zip file (cable pack), all existing connections who correspond with the connections of the cable packet, will be written over by the cable package.
You can find more information about this under "editing"
Cocon asks after selecting the zip file if the external cable pack need to be shown or processed.
Show only
By "show" the external cable package will appear in the geography with pink lines. In this tool you can not change things, though it is a show only tool.
Note: By the show option you can easily change the location of a frame. The buildings and frames in the geography of the import environment needs to be on the same location as by the owner of the cables.
The different in distance can not be more than 2 meter.
Processed
If you process the new external cable package, the package will actually be placed. Before importing, the project number of the environment needs to be equal to the contract number of the delivering party.
During this import a file with all the locations will be included in the import. As a result, the location translation table is partially completed, and need to be supplemented only.
(This applies only when the import is based on contract number)
After the import, the section names of the supplying party will be the cable names in the import environment.
Please note that all existing connections will be removed who are at the same place as the new imported connections. Terminations on frames still exists.
Before you can confirm the cable work a pop up screen appears. This contains additional information about how many cables will be removed or changed after acceptation. After this control the cable work can be accepted or rejected.
The orange lines shows this is a network of an external supplier.
Import cable packet - individual file
During the import process of an individual file, all connections of the cable pack will be added. Existing connections will be remain.
After importing the file, the screen 'import cable' will be shown and the editing needs to be done by the user. ( by editing remaining information ) You need to point out, by a drop down menu, who the supplier of the cable packet is. After importing the orange lines will show, this is a rental network.
