<< Click to Display Table of Contents >> Navigation: Register > Maintain terminated fibers |
This function allows you to maintain the section name and the fiber status of terminated fibers.
You may search for fibers by selecting on Location name, Frame name, and Frame number.
Within a selection entered you may browse to the next frame that complies with the selection.
Note: Should there be searched for a sectionname, cable name or project number, this will also take into account the possibly inserted location name. |
You may also search on Section name, Cable name, and Project number. If you search in this way, you may go to the next frame, using the browse buttons, containing the selection entered.
In the "Date last survey" field you indicate when the associated Frame or part thereof has been surveyed and processed.
The following actions may be taken in this screen:
Through the yellow input field you may search for a (part of the) name or value. |
|
Search for the fibers that match the given name and/or values. |
|
|
Go to the previous/next frame if you made a selection on Location name, Frame name, and/or Frame number. |
|
Go to the previous/next fiber if you made a selection on Section name, Cable name, and/or Project number. |
|
If this button is selected, the history will be searched, with the section name, cable name or project number. |
Presents a report on all changes which occurred on this fiber. Next to this button there is a check-box. If this has been selected the history will be searched using the section name, cable name, or project number. |
|
This button allows you to determine all farthest endpoints of all patch positions for the selected patch panel and to save those until a new synchronization takes place from the Insert/change Patch panel screen. This may be necessary because the physical network has been entered, changed, or removed. This will also change if changes are made in the splices in the previous network. |
Display the frame in the geographical screen. |

By clicking here a cross is placed in the geography on a certain distance from the selected position. You will be asked for a distance in meters, after which the connection is followed from the selected position until the distance entered has been reached. This way, you can perform a quick search for a malfunction, for instance. |

On many locations in Cocon searching is being done by a wildcard. This means everything containing (a part of) the given string is being found in the searched items. |
Grid right-mouse button menu:
Copy section name |
With this the section name, the reservation date, the end date, the fiber status, and the project number are copied from the previous line into the current line. In this way a second parallel fiber may be selected in an easy way. This change may not be performed if a cable work is present for the fiber for which is indicated that no mutations may be executed. |
Usage unknown |
With this you indicate that the section name is unknown for the selected fiber. The section name is assigned the "Used: section name unknown" value. This prevents incorrect reservation. This change may not be performed if a cable work is present for the fiber for which is indicated that no mutations may be executed. |
Cancel reservation |
This allows you to cancel an existing reservation of a fiber. The fiber has then been freed up and is available for other reservations. The fiber status and the section name will be emptied. This change may not be performed if a cable work is present for the fiber for which is indicated that no mutations may be executed. |
Delete section name |
With this you remove the section name for the selected fiber. The fiber has then been freed up and is available for other reservations. If positions are still in use by a patch you will be asked - just to make sure - whether you don't need to remove these patches first. If you indeed wish to remove these patches you answer No and subsequently remove the patches. This change may not be performed if a cable work is present for the fiber for which is indicated that no mutations may be executed. In addition it is possible to release a complete connection with this function. The status of the connection has to be entirely reserved for removal (status 2). When the patches are also reserved for removal they will be removed as well. When the patches aren’t reserved for removal the connection will have a status 3 (free connection) afterwards. |
Confirm reservation |
This allows you to confirm the reservation of a fiber. The fiber status will be changed from 0 to 1. This change may not be performed if a cable work is present for the fiber for which is indicated that no mutations may be executed. |
Confirm bid |
This allows you to confirm the bid reservation of a fiber. The fiber status will be changed from 0 to 1. This change may not be performed if a cable work is present for the fiber for which is indicated that no mutations may be executed. |
Extra information ( |
By selecting this option, an insert field will appear where the remark has already been entered or can be entered. It goes without saying that remarks can only be changed by users who are also permitted to manage fibers. It can also be indicated that an appliance is installed which gives extra attenuation. The details of this connection are to be found under the screen "Theoretical attenuation" The second input field is to register the decline of a fiber. By clicking on the button, a picture is presented of the decline in time. When a remark has been entered an |
Create cable pack
|
Based on the selected fiber(s) you can generate an cable package. It's possible to select one or more fibers with the same section name. Click on the right mouse button after your selection. Select ' make cable pack'. After you confirm this option, your cable package can be saved in different formats. |
